Spot on Highgate

The Flask Pub

Celebrated by locals and frequented by the famous. The Flask is a mainstay of Highgate life.

There has been a pub in this location (74-76 Highgate West Hill) since at least 1663 however it is thought that many of the buildings were rebuilt in the 18th Century. The pub’s name derives from the flasks of mineral water sold onsite, sourced from the wells of Hampstead. Historical visitors to the pub have been many. Dick Turpin was said to have hidden from the law here. Karl Marx who is buried in Highgate Cemetery was also a visitor

That’s the history, but more importantly; what’s the present?

Although popular all year round. We feel The Flask comes alive in the summer months, with a large terrace to the front hidden from the road. Many an hour is spent in the packed courtyard with beer, cocktails, and wine flowing. Loved by the local residents and a good few famous faces, Taylor Swift being a regular, the pub is said to be some inspiration in her song ‘My London Boy’. We think that’s the joy of living in Highgate. You could be a member of foreign royalty or celebrity, and nobody would bat an eyelid.

The food is also good, the winter being pub classics and the summer having a livelier and more varied menu. If the weather is good be sure to book a table in advance as it is certainly going to be busy.
